Both 情绪(qíngxù) and 情感(qínggǎn) are related to emotions and feelings.
The differences between 情绪 and 情感
情绪(qíngxù):
情绪 is more related to moral, mood, or emotion in English. It refers to the immediate, transient emotional states that people experience. These can be triggered by external events or internal thoughts and are often temporary.
e.g.
(Zuìjìn tiān tiānxià yǔ, dàjiā de qíngxù dōu bù tài hǎo.) It has been raining every day recently, and everyone is in a bad mood.
(Tā jīntiān de qíngxù hěn bù wěndìng.) His mood is very unstable today.
(Tā duì zhège xiāoxī de qíngxù fǎnyìng hěn qiángliè.) Her emotional reaction to this news is very strong.
(Diànyǐng de jiéwěi ràng wǒ de qíngxù yǒuxiē dīluò.) The end of the movie made my mood a bit low.
(Tā jìnlì kòngzhì zìjǐ de qíngxù.) He tried his best to control his emotions.
情感(qínggǎn):
情感 is more related to sentiment or feeling in English, which refers to deeper, more enduring emotional experiences, such as love, affection, hate, or deep emotional bonds.
e.g.
(Jiā rénjiān de qínggǎn shì zuì jǐnmì de.) The bond between family members is the strongest.
(Tāmen zhī jiān shēnhòu de qínggǎn bù róngyì yòng yányǔ biǎodá.) The deep feelings between them are not easy to express in words.
(Mǔqīn duì háizi de qínggǎn shì wúsī de.) A mother’s affection for her child is selfless.
(Tāmen bǐcǐ zhī jiān de qínggǎn suízhe shíjiān yuè lái yuè shēn.) The affection between them deepens over time.
(Yìshù zuòpǐn chángcháng néng chùdòng rénmen nèixīn shēnchù de qínggǎn.) Artworks often touch the deep feelings in people’s hearts.
Summary
情感 is deeper, more stable, and long-lasting than 情绪. Instead, 情绪 is more immediate and temporary emotional states.
