The Passive Sentence (3) – 被字句(3)

Unmarked Passive Sentence

It is a type of passive sentence without obvious marks, like “被” “叫” “让”, to indicate the agent which can be omitted depending on the context. Generally, an unmarked passive sentence shows in an affirmative form but implies a passive meaning.

Noun + Verb + (other elements)

The noun is the patient of the action. 

e.g.

洗了吗? (Wǎn xǐ le mɑ?) Are all bowls washed?

衣服都穿破了!(Yīfu dōu chuān pò le.) The clothes are worn.

晚饭做好了。(Wǎnfàn zuò hǎo le.) The dinner has been done.

 

Note: “没(有)” or “还没有” can be put before the verb in the unmarked sentence to form a negation form.

Noun+ 没(有)/还没有  + Verb + (other elements)

The noun is the patient of the action. 

e.g.

作业写完,不能去玩。(Zuòyè méi xiě wán, bù nénɡ qù wán.) The homework hasn’t been finished, so I can’t go out to play.

饺子没有煮好。(Jiǎozi hái méiyǒu zhǔ hǎo.) Jiaozi hasn’t been done.

这些衣服没有干。(Zhè xiē yīfu méiyǒu ɡān.) These clothes aren’t dry.

1. 快把礼物藏好,别让妈妈给看见了。(Kuài bǎ lǐwù cáng hǎo, bié ràng māma gěi kànjiàn le)
2. 你不要别人的话被影响了。(Nǐ bùyào biérén de huà bèi yǐngxiǎng le.)
3. 他给这个故事被吓到了。(Tā gěi zhège gùshì bèi xià dào le.)
4. 我被蚊子给咬了,痒死了!(Wǒ bèi wénzi gěi yǎo le, yǎng sǐ le!)
5. 报纸早上让爸爸给带走了。(Bàozhǐ zǎoshang ràng bàba gěi dài zǒu le.)
