A better translation: My older brother was very tired today. When I asked him why, he said he had gone to bed too late last night. I found this strange, because he had said he was going to sleep at 9:00 PM. He explained that, just before bed, he remembered there was something he needed to do but couldn’t recall what it was; after thinking about it for a long time, he finally remembered—the very thing he needed to do was to go to bed early.
