Pivotal Sentence (2) – 兼语句 (2)

 

Subject + Verb 1 + Object + Verb 2 + Other elements

The verb 1 after the subject can be the words that indicating praise or criticism which express its emotional feelings.

e.g.

老师表扬帮助同学。(Lǎoshī biǎoyáng tā bāngzhù tóngxué.) The teacher praised him for helping his classmates.

老板夸奖大家做报告做得好。(Lǎobǎn kuājiǎng dàjiā zuò bàogào zuò de hǎo.) The boss praised everyone for doing a good report.

 

妈妈总是批评不整理房间。(Māma zǒng shì pīpíng wǒ bù zhěnglǐ fángjiān.) Mom always criticizes me for not tidying the room.

你不要总是指责孩子学习不努力。(Nǐ búyào zǒng shì zhǐzé háizi xuéxí bù nǔlì.) Don’t always accuse your child of not studying hard.

 

Subject + 叫/称(呼)/说/收/选 + Object 1 + 做/为/当/是 + Object 2

This structure is used when addressing or defining object 1 as object 2.

e.g.

大家都大哥。(Dàjiā dōu chēng tā wéi dàgē.) Everyone calls him big brother.

老师们都好学生。(Lǎoshīmen dōu shuō tā shì hǎo xuéshēng.) The teachers all say that she is a good student.

王老师她的学生。(Wáng lǎoshī shōu wǒ zuò tā de xuéshēng.) Teacher Wang accepted me as her student.

同事们都经理。(Tóngshìmen dōu xuǎn nǐ dāng jīnglǐ.) The colleagues have chosen you as the manager.
