净(Jìng)

净 limits the scope, usually used in spoken Chinese.

1. 净 means “only” “nothing else,” equivalent to 只 or 光.

净 + Verb phrase

e.g.

这个歌手净和女歌迷交流，不理男歌迷。

我弟弟净吃肉，不吃蔬菜。

他对人不太真诚，净说好听的，不说实话。

2. 净 means “always”, equivalent to 总是 or 老是.

净 + Verb phrase

e.g.

今年冬天净下雪。

你今天怎么了？会议上净说错话。

你为什么净选初级水平的对手比赛？

我感冒了，晚上净咳嗽。

3. 净 means “all”, equivalent to 全 or 都.

净 + 是

e.g.

这个学校不是女校，但是净是女生，为什么？

这条街净是垃圾，我们别在这儿走了。

这个会议太无聊了，大家说的净是些没用的话。
