汉字/拼音/注音

汉字 (Chinese Characters)

汉字 (Chinese Characters) are logographic characters used in the written form of the Chinese language. Each character represents a word or a meaningful part of a word. They are composed of strokes and radicals, many of which give clues to meaning and pronunciation. Developed over thousands of years, originating from pictographs and ideographs, 汉字 are essential for reading and writing Chinese and are widely used in various Chinese-speaking regions.

拼音 (Pinyin)

拼音(Pinyin) is the official romanization system for Standard Chinese in mainland China. It uses the Latin alphabet to represent Chinese sounds. Introduced in the 1950s to promote literacy and standardize pronunciation, Pinyin includes initials (consonants), finals (vowel sounds), and tone marks (the four tones of Mandarin). It is primarily used as a learning tool for Mandarin pronunciation and as an input method for typing Chinese characters.

注音 (Zhuyin or Bopomofo)

注音 (Zhuyin or Bopomofo) was developed in the early 20th century and officially adopted in Taiwan. It is a phonetic system used in Taiwan to teach Mandarin pronunciation. 注音 consists of symbols that represent sounds in Mandarin, comprising 37 symbols for sounds and 4 tone marks. It is usually used in educational settings, particularly for young children learning to read and write Chinese characters, and as an input method for typing.
